It started because
we couldn't find it either.
In 2011 Best and Benji were living on Samui and driving to Bangkok for the things they wanted to eat and put on their skin. So they opened a small shop in Lamai and filled it with exactly that. Fifteen years later the list is longer, but it's still chosen the same way — if we wouldn't use it at home, it doesn't go on the shelf.
The name comes from the lamphu tree, which grows where fresh water meets the sea. It's the point where an ecosystem starts — and it's what we'd like this shop to be for the island.
A handful of shelves of organic food and Thai natural skincare, because nobody else was carrying it here.
Healthy comfort food cooked the way we eat at home. The kimchi baked rice is still on the menu.
Samui's first. Bring the bottle, pay by weight, leave the packaging behind.
Personal care, food, supplements, eco living and yoga — plus wholesale to retreats, villas and resorts across Samui, Phangan and Koh Tao.
Lamphu Kitchen is moving in next door, so you can shop the shelf and sit down to eat it.

Eating and living well shouldn't be something you have to be rich, or on a retreat, to do. We wanted a shop where anyone on this island could walk in and find it — at a price that makes sense.
The lamphu grows where fresh water meets the sea. Nothing in that spot belongs to one thing alone — the fish, the birds and the roots all live off each other, and that is what makes it rich. We took the name because that is what we want the shop to be for this island: somewhere everyone can come, whatever they can spend, and leave with something that is genuinely good for them. Living well shouldn't be a thing you have to be able to afford.
